ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

It started with a conversation

Chatting, there was a comment that other local counties have History Festivals but with far less impressive history than Herefordshire. Drawing on some of the idea from the very successful H-art project and encouraged by many positive conversations, a Steering Group was formed. Finance was arranged and the current format emerged.

The Festival is a celebration of Herefordshire’s History. Events are being organised by individuals and groups across the whole of the County, for the benefit of the whole community.

The Herefordshire History Festival is measured by the involvement, both by those organising and those visiting. 2026 is our second year.

And a small number of other members.

It is supported by an enthusiastic Steering Committee and has been financed by some generous individuals, Herefordshire Community Foundation, the Friends of Herefordshire Museums and Art, and Hereford Family History Society.

We’d love to list your 2026 event. There’s a straightforward form. Fill in the details, submit and we’ll get your event published soon as we can.
