A small exhibition in St Mary’s Church Walterstone about David Price, emigration from Herefordshire and the remarkable family of Rev Theophilus Morgan, Vicar of Walterstone, who encouraged David on his big journey to a new life. We also hope to share our learning so far about how vulnerable people were supported by parishes before the advent of workhouses, and what drove emigration from the county to the New World in the 1840s.
Churchyard records and census details will be available and we hope to attract visitors who are exploring the history of their own families or local properties or past life in Walterstone in general.
12.00 – 4.00pm
Free admission
IMPORTANT – Please note that there is limited space on the roadside to park outside the church. The car park of the historic Carpenters Arms next door is for customers only.
