SATURDAY 17 MAY, NORTH HEREFORDSHIRE

HEREFORD CATTLE HISTORIES

Saturday 17 May 2025 2.00 – 3.00pm, The Rodd, Presteigne.

For many worldwide, ‘Hereford’ is synonymous with the county’s white-faced, red-coated cattle. The development of this much-loved breed has close connections to North Herefordshire, including The Rodd near Presteigne, a Jacobean manor house formerly home to Aaron Rogers, ‘a pioneer amongst Hereford breeders’.

In this illustrated talk for the Herefordshire Histories Festival, Catherine Beale (Champagne & Shambles) leads us from local beginnings to global recognition of these colourful ‘ruby moos’, with tales of some of the best-known beasts of the breed (owners and cattle).

£8 per person. Your talk ticket includes full entry to Rodd Court and grounds and our exhibitions on the day. Our Pop-up cafe serves tea, coffee and freshly baked local cakes.
