Dinedor – Hillfort and Ribbon Walk

Hear about Dinedor's pre-history on a return walk from Village Hall to Hillfort
Tuesday 19th May 2pm - 4.30pm. Meet at Dinedor Village Hall for a 4km return walk with Professor Keith Ray, County Archaeologist when Rotherwas Ribbon discovered in 2007
  • 2pm: meet at the front of Dinedor Village Hall – car parking available at the rear
  • 2.15pm: Depart for 4km (2.5 mile) guided walk with 2 stiles and 10 swing gates
  • steep ascent with comfortable descent to return – sturdy waterproof footwear recommended, and walking poles if owned
  • Learn about the Rotherwas Ribbon as you look over the site of its discovery – an extraordinary Neolithic and Bronze Age pebble-paved way that originally linked both ends of Dinedor Hill to the River Wye near Lower Bullingham
  • Walk around the Iron Age Hillfort and hear about living there at that time
  • 4.30pm: return to Dinedor Village Hall

Village Hall open at start and on return for toilets and drinking water.  Donation welcomed if used (box inside hall)
Walk will go ahead in all but exceptional weather conditions, when talk will take place in Village Hall instead
