HEREFORDSHIRE HISTORY DAY AT HARC

10 May 2025, HARC, Rotherwas Herefordshire History Day at HARC. Herefordshire Family History Society will be hosting a history day at the HARC in Rotherwas where we will welcoming other history organisations to come along and display what they have to offer. Societies who have agreed to exhibit at the moment are: Bartonsham History Group, Bromyard Local History Society, Caring for God’s Acre, Hereford Community Farm, Dinedor Heritage Group, Rotherwas Together and the Woolhope Club

Saturday 10th May. Tour 1.40 pm, followed by talk at 2 pm. St Francis Xavier’s RC Church HR4 9AP. A talk about the life, times and death of Herefordshire’s own martyr, St John Kemble. A short tour of St Francis Xavier’s R C Church is also offered..

MADLEY HISTORY WALK

Saturday 10th May 2025, at 9.45am, walk 10am to 12am, Madley Recreation Ground. Visit the remarkable 12th century Church with Ed Kelly’s modern artworks, beautiful 13c stained glass and large crypt chapel. Also see the Forge; 1790 Workhouse; an ancient wood with wild orchids;

Saturday 10 May 2025 1.50pm, Hereford Green Dragon Hotel. Academic Procession from the Green Dragon Hotel to Hereford Cathedral for NMITE’s first Graduation Ceremony..

BROMYARD LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY – Made in Bromyard

Saturday 10th May 10am – 12.30. Thursday 15th May and Friday 16th May 10am – 1pm & 2pm – 4.30pm, Bromyard Local & Family History Centre, 5 Sherford Street Bromyard HR7 4DL. An exhibition of photographs and artifacts showing the trades of Bromyard & District spanning one hundred and fifty years..

Saturday 10 May 2025 10.00 – 4.00pm, Mordiford Water Mill. Mordiford Water Mill. A tall stone corn mill on a steep site. The large overshot waterwheel drove iron machinery & 2 pairs of stones.

Grange Court, Leominster. Throughout Herefordshire History Festival week my friendly volunteer guides will be offering free short guided tours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 11am; Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm. Magnificent historic building open to local community and to visitors. Free entry Monday to Saturday, 10 – 4.

HEREFORD & GLOUCESTER CANAL TRUST – Minibus Tour of sites of H&G Canal

WEOBLEY MUSEUM – EXTENDED OPENING DURING FESTIVAL

Moccas Church PCC, in collaboration with the Woolhope Club, is putting on an afternoon of illustrated talks and organ demo : David Whitehead on the history of Moccas Church and its newly restored organ and waterpump, Francis Chester-Master on the Moccas stained glass, Anthea Chester-Master on the Knox family during WW1, and Lyndon Eatough Smith will demonstrate the organ and waterpump, and play Elgar and the Dambusters hymn in celebration of VE day .
