Herefordshire Histories Festival – Guided Walks on Sutton Walls and Displays Sunday May 17th
Herefordshire Histories Festival is a county wide festival, new from 2025, celebrating the extraordinary history of the County of Herefordshire. The Festival recognises that the County has many historic sites and stories which may not be celebrated enough. The Festival runs from 9 – 25 May.
As part of the festival members of Sutton Walls Conservation Group will be leading a Guided Walk around Sutton Walls Hillfort at 10.30 am on Sunday May 17th. There will also be displays about Sutton Walls, plus historical maps and some information on the history of the Lost Houses of Sutton Village. These displays will be at Sutton St Nicholas Village Hall between 10am and 2pm on Sunday 17th May. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available.
Numbers are limited to 25 people on each walk. Booking is essential (see below).
The Walks will commence from Sutton St Michael Church HR1 3AY. The walk will take approximately one and half to two hours and is about 1.5 miles in length.
Please be aware that this walk is NOT RECOMMENDED for anyone with mobility or respiratory issues. The route to Sutton Walls Hillfort is on an incline and uneven in parts. It can also be muddy and slippery.
For full details about the walk and to book tickets visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1987047975986?aff=oddtdtcreator
Please note the walk is FREE but we are suggesting a donation of £5 to the Sutton Walls Conservation Group.
