Mercian Fortress in Herefordshire

A talk by Keith Ray will be at Breinton Church. Saturday 16th May at 10.30am.

Herefordshire was a significant, contested part of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Mercia. Especially during the eighth century when King Offa established the border along the River Wye, protected by Offa’s Dyke. Several sites in Herefordshire have pre-Conquest or Mercian origins.

Professor Keith Ray will be giving a talk on the Mercian fortress in Herefordshire.

Coffee and cake will be served. Parking at the church. Sturdy shoes advisable.
