EAST HEREFORDSHIRE, SUNDAY 18 MAY

OXFORD ARMS HERITAGE DAY

Oxford Arms Kington

Sunday 18 May 2025 2.00 – 5.00pm, The Oxford Arms, Duke Street. Kington HR5 3DR

We are Open Arms Kington. In early 2023 we bought The Oxford Arms, a Grade II listed former coaching inn, which we’re transforming into a community hub and pub. Together, we’re creating a place where everyone can feel a sense of “belonging”, and where good things happen every day.

While we raise funds to carry out the extensive work required to restore the Grade II-listed building, we’ve turned our courtyard and ancient barn into beautiful event spaces.

Our regular events range from craft cafes to healthcare checkups, Diwali celebrations to DJ nights, Heritage days, creative writing courses to antiques valuations, and so much more. Run almost entirely by volunteers, our team are creating an inclusive, warm and welcoming hub for all generations at The Oxford.

SUNDAY 18TH MAY:

From 10am, join our guided walk in the footsteps of the drovers (6 miles over moderate terrain, approximately 3 hours, free of charge)

Expect fascinating history and gorgeous views as you take a walk back in time along key droving routes in and around Kington via Park Wood and Hergest Ridge – wear suitable walking shoes, dress for the weather and bring water/a drink of choice. Meet Annie at The Oxford Arms at 10am, returning to The Oxford for lunch around 1pm

From 1pm, The Oxford will be open, serving “Drover’s Bait” ploughman’s lunches, as well as the usual offerings from our bar and caravan café
