Sunday 18 May 2025 11.00am, The Shed 701 Coffee House, at Warehouse 701, Fordshill Road, Rotherwas, HR2 6NS
See the newly restored lake and the remaining graves in the private burial ground of the Bodenham Estate on the way. The chapel will be open and there will also be a display by Dinedor Heritage Group.
For over six centuries, Rotherwas Chapel was an integral part of a sizeable manor house, the seat of the De La Barre and later the Bodenham families. Nearby is the site of successive houses: the medieval half-timbered mansion, its stone-built Tudor extension (with elaborate formal gardens) and its Georgian successor, built in 1732 but itself demolished in 1926 (following the death of the last of the Bodenhams).
Linger within the chapel and return at your leisure, then take a stroll around Warehouse 701, where you will find all sorts of reclaim, home & garden items, plus a fabulous café where you can enjoy light bites and sweet treats.
You can also learn about the ‘Canary Girls’, who worked in the former munitions factory.
Please note, there are no toilet facilities at the chapel.
