St Leonard’s Management, Yarpole invites you to our beautiful 11th century Bell Tower and trailblazing 14th century church that was the first reordered church to host an award-winning Gallery Café, Village Shop and Post Office – all community owned and run.
We maintain and celebrate our beautiful church and unique Bell Tower and raise funds by promoting our church as a community hub, a centre for help and support as well as a place of worship and creative enterprise – eg. our bi-annual ‘Made in HR6’ festival celebrates arts and crafts from the locality.
EVERYDAY – Entrance to the Bell Tower is free and in the church there are outstanding village archives available for families, visitors and historical researchers to discover the fascinating personal histories of life in Yarpole that cover several centuries. Our unique 12th Century Bell Tower – dated 1197 – will be open EVERYDAY for you to explore, listen to the audio presentation and delve into a display of documents and illustrations.
Our beautiful graveyard is sensitively managed hence why we have 96 different species of flora and fauna – free for you to enjoy.
WEDNESDAY 14 MAY – Whilst visiting Yarpole enjoy a traditional cream tea (£8.50 pp) or a sumptuous afternoon tea (£15 pp) from 1330 to 1600 (must be pre-booked by Fri 9 May – tel. 01568 780594 or email gallerycafeyarpole@outlook.com – please advise of any dietary requirements) – whilst tucking into the tasty delights on offer we have two musical groups – a singing group and an orchestral group entertaining you through to 1600.
EVERYDAY (except Sun) – our award-winning Gallery Café, which is largely run by volunteers, will be open mornings (1030-1230) for gorgeous homemade cakes, Fairtrade coffees, teas and soft drinks and lunches on Thurs & Fri. For Saturday brunch tuck into bacon butties, revved up scones and even more delicious home-made cakes.
EVERYDAY – 10-18 May – a churchyard headstone treasure hunt, a self guided tour of the burial ground to trace the personal histories highlighted by our fascinating adopt a grave archives, visit the beautiful St Leonard’s Church, study our extensive historical archives on our funeral bier, shop in our gorgeous village shop and post office(except Sun) and/or saunter down to our lovely volunteer run and village owned pub, The Bell at Yarpole (Weds to Sun).
